About Vigyan Jyoti

‘Vigyan Jyoti’ is a flagship initiative of the Department of Science & Technology (DST) initiated in December 2019 to inspire meritorious girl students from 9^th to 12^th standards to pursue Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
The program’s goal is to establish gender parity in STEM fields that are underrepresented by women through a structured intervention administered by DST.
Vigyan Jyoti mandates a diverse range of activities to promote STEM among girls, including science camps, special lectures, role model interactions, tinkering activities, and visits to Knowledge Partner institutes such as various IITs, IISERs, NITs, and laboratories under CSIR, DST, DBT, ICMR, ICAR, as well as Central and State Universities.
Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) / Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), autonomous bodies under the Ministry of Education, GoI, are the implementing partners of DST, under which the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) located across the country are serving as Vigyan Jyoti Knowledge Centres.
The program focuses on inclusivity and diversity by extending the benefits to girl students from other central government and state government schools in the vicinity of JNVs/KVs functioning as Knowledge Centres.
